An investigation is underway into a fatal shooting early Sunday morning. At around 12:55 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E. for reports of shots fired. Arriving officers discovered a dead man. At this time, police believe the shooting was targeted but have no one in custody. Charanjit Toor had arranged to meet with some other local residents in the area Sunday morning to do a cleanup of the area, only to discover, to his dismay, that it was closed off because of a shooting the night before. He said incidents like the early-Sunday shooting were concerning. “The safety (of community residents) is number one because small kids, families, young families live here,” Toor said. “We want everyone to be a safe place here in this neighborhood, especially in Cornerstone.” An autopsy will be conducted in the coming days. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.
