Tricia Livingston was a few dozen metres back from the action at the Spray Lakes area when she witnessed a rockslide on Monday evening. “All this rock from the ledge just came tumbling down and it was insane,” Livingston said. “It was like ‘holy crap, did that just happen?’” Livingston and two other people were approximately 50 metres from where the slide took place along Spray Lakes Road. There was just one vehicle in front of theirs. “I didn’t hear a damn thing, but I just saw this white SUV and the next thing you know, right behind it, this boulder sliding right down the side of the mountain, they narrowly escaped,” she said. The section of the Spray Lakes Road was closed by Alberta Parks on the Canmore Hill in Kananaskis, the agency said on social media. The closure extends from the Grassi Lakes parking lot to the Goat Creek day-use area. For Livingston, it’s hard to imagine how close the group came to getting hit. “We sit there and think like, oh my goodness, if we took one last picture or like just the times, like, you never know, right?” she said.
