Michael Longfellow admits his departure last year from Saturday Night Live was a surprise but says he still has the greatest respect for show founder and executive producer Lorne Michaels. “Best boss I ever had. One of the first bosses I genuinely loved or loved to work for and respected and who wasn’t trying to somehow disregard my duties like when I was a busboy,” Longfellow told CTV News. Longfellow spent three seasons on SNL and has returned to the craft that got him there in the first place—stand-up comedy. Speaking to CTV with his mom’s Border Collie puppy making noise in the background, Longfellow reminisced about his final Saturday Night Live audition. “They put us in dressing rooms. Marcello (Hernández) was across from me. We watched Superbad together, and then the stagehand took me up, and before I went on, he said, ‘Don’t worry. It’s only the rest of your life,’ which is Chris, who became a friend at the show,” Longfellow said. Longfellow performs March 12 to 14 at The Laugh Shop in Calgary.
