Roads closed in Exshaw, Alta., due to flooding

Many residents in the hamlet of Exshaw, Alta., are experiencing flooding on Monday.

Homeowners have shared details about the situation in the community, located about an hour west of Calgary along Highway 1A.

One man, living in the eastern section of Exshaw, told CTV News she’s gone from using two sump pumps to eight over the course of nine days of rising waters.

The Municipal District of Bighorn, which oversees the hamlet, says some roads have been temporarily closed because of “unsafe road conditions.”

“The alley directly behind the Legion is closed on both sides. The alley between Barrier Mountain Drive and Mount McGillivary Drive remains open,” officials said.

“Mount Fable Drive (Hayley’s Way) at the north end of Mount Pigeon Drive is also closed.”

The M.D. asks everyone to avoid the above roads and respect all signage until the situation has been resolved.
