The worst of this system is done and the weather in Calgary is gradually improving. Gusts maxed out just above 90 km/h in the city on Friday, with 70 km/h gusts expected Friday night. That wind will be down to 40 km/h on Saturday. There’s also a chance of flurries Friday night, with a few spilling into Saturday. One to three centimetres is possible throughout the next 24 hours. Temperatures will remain cold for the whole weekend, but next week will be warm and bright, with highs will jump back into the teens for Wednesday through Sunday next week. Here is a cool photo of virga — snow evaporating before it hits the ground — taken by Michael Interisano near Signal Hill on Thursday.
