Calgary got a blast of wintry weather on Tuesday afternoon and early evening, but it will be short-lived. Still, a weak low-pressure system was able to deliver a messy mix of freezing drizzle and light snow, which triggered freezing-rain warnings for Calgary and the surrounding area. The low will be snuffed out by around 10 p.m. Tuesday, and then a ridge of high pressure will work its way back into Calgary by Wednesday morning. It will be a brisk start to the midweek, with temperatures around -4 C feeling like -7 with the windchill, but the persistent sunshine will allow the city to warm up to an above-seasonal high of 4 C by the afternoon. We remain on the warm side of the jet stream for the rest of the workweek, which will help our temperatures steadily climb, with the peak high looking to be on Friday at 9 C, but it comes with some westerly winds at 20 to 40 km/h. Overall, it’s been a pretty mild and warm November, but a more sustained arctic air mass will push into southern Alberta early next week, resulting in below-seasonal highs in the single minus digits and on-and-off flurries throughout the end of the month.
