A teen was arrested after a report of a gun at a school in the Alberta-Saskatchewan border city of Lloydminster on Wednesday. Mounties were called to Lloydminster Comprehensive High School at 11:07 a.m. Police say the school was immediately put on lockdown and a suspect was quickly located and arrested without incident. Because the suspect is a youth, they cannot be identified because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. After an investigation police say there was no weapon. “Lloydminster RCMP recognize that reports of firearms or violence in a school can be traumatic for students, staff, parents, and the broader community,” Sgt. Christopher Byford of the Lloydminster RCMP said in a news release. “We would like to acknowledge the professionalism and preparedness demonstrated by the staff at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School. The school’s training and emergency response procedures were implemented quickly and effectively, contributing to the safe resolution of this incident.” Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8300.
