Police have put out an alert about a hiker who is overdue to return from a camping trip. Dexter Joseph Altrogge, 27, hasn’t been in contact with his family since Sept. 30. He was supposed to return home to Hinton from a back country camping trip in William A. Switzer Provincial Park on Oct. 1. Police say he told his family he would be camping in the area of Kelly’s Bathtub or Jarvis Lake. Altrogge is described as 6′ tall weighing 170 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair, and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a light tan summer jacket and either jeans or black shell pants. Anyone with information about Altrogge’s whereabouts is asked to contact Hinton RCMP at 780-865-5544.
