Bruce County officials are offering more than $100,000 in grants to spruce up downtown areas. The “Spruce the Bruce” campaign offers $125,000 for local businesses and municipalities, in 13 qualified categories. “Spruce the Bruce helps build vibrant, welcoming and inclusive communities” said Bruce County’s Economic Development Manager, Heather Hyde. “This diverse program also supports our agricultural and tourism sectors while addressing local economic challenges faced today.” Business owners can use the money for a variety of purposes including facade improvements, signage, awnings, accessibility improvements, and increasing residential rental supply in mixed use zones. Municipalities also have access to the grant to improve community signage, marketing, or beautify streetscapes. “The Spruce the Bruce Program is back in collaboration with our local municipalities, empowering businesses, property owners and local partners to invest in our future,” said Bruce County Warden, Luke Charbonneau. Applications open on Monday, work must be completed prior to Oct. 31, 2026.
