Police are investigating a break and enter at a Rona store on Edward Street in St. Thomas. A source with Rona who wished to remain anonymous told CTV News that thieves entered the store through a hatch in the roof and made their way down to the offices. We’ve learned they left out the back door with a safe while leaving their tools behind. The source also said the roof hatch was left open which caused flooding to the interior of the store after last night’s storm. Police have not confirmed those details. “The business was vacant at the time of the break and enter and no injuries were reported,” said Samantha Wakefield with St. Thomas Police Services. “I would like to urge there is no risk to public safety and this investigation remains ongoing.” The store was closed Wednesday with pylons blocking the entrance. It’s unclear when it will reopen.
