Laval police (SPL) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating an elderly man who went missing Sunday morning and his family fears for his safety. Juan Castro-Saavedra is 68 years old and left his Sainte-Rose neighbourhood home on foot early in the morning. “His family is concerned for his safety due to his cognitive impairment and difficulty walking,” the SPL said in a news release. “He has been known to wander off in the surrounding streets in the past.” The SPL established a command post on Curé-Labelle Boulevard and Yvon-Berger Avenue, and a drone team, ATV unit, and foot and bicycle patrols are active. Quebec provincial police (SQ) is also assisting, as are over 20 Quebec Search and Rescue Volunteer Association members. “We are asking residents of the Sainte-Rose neighbourhood to pay particular attention to backyards, sheds, outbuildings, and any other locations where the missing person may have sought shelter,” the SPL said. “We also ask residents in the area who have surveillance cameras to review their footage dating back to September 27, 2026.” Castro-Saavedra is 5′11 (1.8 m) and weighs 165 pounds (75 kg) with brown hair and eyes. He speaks French and Spanish. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt, grey shorts, black knee-high socks and white shoes. Anyone who sees the man is asked to call 911.
