Three varieties of microgreens sold under the Micro Verdure brand are being recalled due to possible pathogenic E. coli contamination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced Tuesday. The recall affects Micro Verdure Microgreens in Broccoli (80g), Summery Fusion (150g), and Spicy Trio (80g), all with best-before dates of May 15 or May 22, 2026. The products were distributed in Quebec. Health Canada has also issued a recall for Les Ferme Lufa brand broccoli microgreens due to E. coli. The recalled items were sold in 50 g format online in Ontario and Quebec. Health officials are warning consumers not to eat, serve, sell, or distribute the affected products, even if they appear and smell normal. Pathogenic E. coli can cause serious illness without any visible signs of spoilage. Symptoms of E. coli infection can range from nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps to watery or bloody diarrhea. In severe cases, the illness can lead to seizures, stroke, kidney failure, or death. Anyone who believes they may have become sick after consuming the recalled products is advised to contact a health-care provider. Recalled items should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
