A 17-year-old boy was shot late Sunday night in the St-Laurent borough, Montreal police said. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire on Bourgoin Street near Hufford Street at around 11:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found the teenage victim on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was conscious and transported to hospital. His life is not believed to be in danger despite serious injuries. According to preliminary information, one or more suspects opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, according to Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chevrefils. A perimeter was established to allow investigators and crime scene technicians to examine the area. A canine unit is assisting in the search for evidence. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene, and police are reviewing nearby surveillance camera footage. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
