A daycare on the South Shore was forced to close on Friday after a vehicle collided with the building. Longueuil police (SPAL) said that shortly after 10 a.m., officers responded to the Au Pied De L’Échelle (Les Oliviers) Daycare on Rome Boulevard in Brossard. Police say a woman in her 60s was behind the wheel when the vehicle hit the building. No one was injured. Police on scene said the collision seems accidental. Longueuil Fire Department staff are on site to check the integrity of the building. The daycare is closed for the day. The union that represents the daycare (FIPEQ-CSQ) said the collision was a shock to children and staff and caused concern for parents. “The worst was avoided, but the incident proved to be very distressing for those directly and indirectly affected,” said FIPEQ-CSQ President Anne-Marie Bellerose. “We hope that everyone will recover quickly from this trying situation. We wish them a swift return to normalcy.”
