The Montreal police (SPVM) arson unit is investigating after a vehicle was set on fire in the borough of Montreal North. Police received several 911 calls at around 4 a.m. about an SUV on fire parked in a private residential driveway on Rue des Récollets, near Rue Prieur. The Montreal fire department brought the fire under control when police arrived at the scene. According to the SPVM, one or more suspects are believed to have set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the scene. Police arrived shortly afterward. Incendiary material was found at the scene. The property was not damaged. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
