The long weekend is upon us! Here’s what will be open and closed on Monday’s statutory holiday, also known as Victoria Day, Journée des Patriotes or Planting Day.

Closed on Monday

• Banks
• MMFA, McCord Stewart and MAC museums
• Canada Post offices
• Montreal Service Canada Centre offices, including Passport Canada
• Quebec government offices, including the SAAQ
• Access Montreal offices, City of Montreal permit counters, administrative offices, municipal courts, and ecocentres

Open on Monday

• City waste collection (all types, including recycling, compost, and green waste)
• Montreal’s 311 line
• Espace pour la vie — Biosphère, Biodôme, Insectarium, Botanical Gardens, and Planétarium
• Public markets, including Atwater and Jean-Talon
• Most malls and shopping centres
• SAQ and SQDC
• Arenas, swimming pools, libraries, cultural centres, community centres, and sports facilities — hours vary by borough. Check here for more information.

Getting around

STM buses and the metro will run on a holiday schedule. Check the STM website before heading out.

The REM’s new Anse-à-l’Orme branch officially launches Monday, connecting the West Island to the rest of the REM network for the first time.

The four new stations — Des Sources, Fairview–Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, and Anse-à-l’Orme — will be in service from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., with trains running every 15 minutes.

Free access from the four new stations runs Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. only. Regular fares apply Monday.
