Sault Ste. Marie’s economic development department has launched a new online resource hub to help local businesses affected by U.S. tariffs, Canadian counter-tariffs, and related trade disruption. “The tariff resources page brings together federal and provincial programs, services and supports that may assist businesses facing tariff-related challenges,” the city said in a news release Sept. 16. “The resource hub includes information on programs designed to support cash flow, business investment, market diversification, workforce retention, tariff and customs relief, and import and export support.” Loans, grants, advice Financial resources include grants, loans, financing programs, advisory services and sector-specific assistance. “We know that changes in trade policy can create uncertainty and pressure for local businesses,” said Rick Van Staveren, the Sault’s director of economic development. “Our goal is to connect businesses with a central source of reliable information and relevant support.” Since eligibility requirements and application processes vary by program, businesses are encouraged to review program details to determine which opportunities best fit their needs.
