A cabin on Manitoulin Island is a total loss after an early morning fire in Billings Township on Thursday. It happened on Hawk Road just after 7 a.m. Area residents could see smoke pouring across the bay. A video obtained by CTV News taken by a neighbour showed heavy smoke billowing from the property. The area was still an active fire scene as early Thursday evening. Investigators with the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police have been called in to assess the situation. It’s still unclear if anyone was on the property at the time of the fire. No word yet on a cause or the estimated financial loss.
