The remains of a 61-year-old Kirkland Lake man who were discovered by police Aug 20. have been identified following a post-mortem examination. Police, fire and emergency services responded to a report of human remains located in an unoccupied building on Government Road, police said in a news release Thursday. “An autopsy identified the remains as 61-year-old Gregory Vachon of Kirkland Lake,” police said. “At this time, there is no evidence of foul play or any broader threat to the public.” Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
