Metro Vancouver is easing water restrictions starting Sept. 1—meaning lawn watering will be allowed one day per week. “The region can ease water restrictions from stage 2 to stage 1 because reservoir levels are within the typical range for this time of year,” an announcement from Metro Vancouver said. “Designated lawn watering days are determined by property address and type.” For residences with even-number addresses, lawn watering is allowed on Saturday mornings. Automatic watering can happen between 5 and 7 a.m. and manual watering is permissible from 6 to 9 a.m. For odd-numbered addresses, watering is allowed on Sundays within the same timeframes. Businesses with even-numbered addresses are allowed automatic watering on Mondays between 4 and 6 a.m., and can manually water their lawns between 6 and 9 a.m. On Tuesdays, lawn watering is allowed at businesses with even-numbered addresses during the same windows. “Trees, shrubs, and flowers may be watered any day in the morning when using a sprinkler, or at any time when hand watered or using drip irrigation. Edible plants are exempt from the restrictions,” the statement from the regional district said.
