Winnipeg police have charged a 29-year-old man in connection with a Dollarama security guard being stabbed Tuesday afternoon. The security guard was stabbed at the store in the 2700 block of Portage Avenue after he confronted a suspected shoplifter. The guard was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable condition. On Wednesday just before 10 a.m., police said the suspect was spotted by an off-duty officer near Portage Avenue and Sharp Boulevard. On-duty officers were called and the suspect was arrested near Portage Avenue and Strathmillan Road without incident. The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery and failure to comply with a probation order. He has been detained in custody, and the charges have not been proven in court.
