Several units with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were deployed late Thursday evening to investigate an assault on St. Georges Avenue. “One victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries,” police said in a news release. “The assailant fled westbound on St. Georges Avenue. Officers have secured the scene and are actively investigating this incident.” Patrol officers, the canine unit, forensic identification unit and the emergency services unit were among those deployed to the scene. “Further details may be released as details become available,” police said.
