Two Timmins women have been charged following a joint drug trafficking investigation by the Timmins Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police. In September, the two forces commenced a joint investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs in Timmins. Police said the investigation identified a residence on Balsam Street North as a location where illicit drugs were allegedly being sold. Search warrant executed On Thursday, police said officers from both police services executed a search warrant at the residence “without incident”. “Five occupants were located inside the residence and arrested,” the Timmins Police Service said in a news release. Two women were transported to the local police station for further investigation. The remaining three occupants were released at the scene. A search of the individuals incident to arrest, along with a search of the residence, resulted in the seizure of: Police said the total street value of the items seized is $6,900. “This investigation demonstrates the value of working collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to identify and address drug trafficking activity in our community,” said Staff Sgt. Camile Camirand. Charges laid As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old woman was charged with three drug trafficking offences and possession of property obtained by crime, while the other woman, 29, was charged with public mischief and breaching a conditional sentence order. “The Timmins Police Service and OPP continue to work collaboratively to disrupt the trafficking of illicit drugs within the community,” police said.
