A Calgary man is facing human trafficking charges after one of his alleged victims came forward to police. Eric Dinh, 25, was arrested on Sept. 29 following a joint investigation between Calgary police and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) human trafficking unit. ALERT says an investigation into Dinh was launched back in March when a victim reported she was being trafficked. “When police made the arrest and searched the suspect’s home in Calgary’s Martindale neighbourhood, drugs were also located. ALERT seized quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine as well as nearly $5,000 in cash,” said a Thursday release. Dinh is charged with five offences, including advertising sexual services and obtaining material benefit from sexual services. He has been released from custody on a number of court-imposed conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 23. Members of ALERT say there may be additional victims in this case, and are asking anyone with information to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers. “We want to assure victims that they will be heard and that their information is valuable especially when it comes to preventing the victimization of other women. said Staff Sgt. Matt Pumphrey. “Human trafficking is a degrading practice, and ALERT is committed to holding the perpetrators accountable.”
