Reports of active shooters at two provincial parks sparked a large-scale police response Tuesday night, but officers say there was no evidence that a shooting had taken place. Ontario Provincial Police in West Parry Sound responded to a report of an active shooter at Killbear Provincial Park in Carling Township around 8 p.m. Officers swarmed the park and discovered that there was no shooting and no threat to public safety. Around the same time, the OPP Provincial Communication Centre in Orillia said it received a similar call reporting an incident at Bass Lake Provincial Park. “Ontario Parks can confirm that the OPP responded to the incident and advised that there was no threat to public safety,” Ontario Parks said in a statement to CTV News. Police say they are investigating both incidents as swatting calls. The investigation is ongoing.
