Two people were able to swim to shore after crashing their car into the water at Mooney’s Bay early Friday. Ottawa paramedic spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV Your Morning Ottawa the vehicle ended up in the water in the area of Riverside Drive and Walkley Road at around 5:40 a.m. The two occupants of the vehicle were assessed at the scene and released without needing to go to the hospital, he said. The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently unknown. Ottawa police are on scene. Coun. Riley Brockington says traffic signals at the intersection are not working as a result of the crash and police are directing traffic. “Repairs are expected to take several hours. The vehicle involved entered the river and will be removed later today, which may cause additional traffic impacts in the area. There were no serious injuries reported,” the Ottawa Police Service said on X. “Drivers are asked to use caution, expect delays and follow the direction of officers or traffic control personnel.”
