A fall favourite in the Saskatoon area will not go ahead this year. In a social media post, Black Fox Farm & Distillery announced the popular you-pick pumpkin patch will not be open this fall. “Changing growing conditions and the evolving needs of our farm mean we’re repurposing those acres for fruit production,” the post said. Black Fox is the reigning Worldwide Whisky Producer of the Year. The distillery grows its own vegetables, fruits and flowers for its gin and whisky, while also serving as a popular space for weddings and, until this year, an Instagram-worthy spot to find the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween or bring fall flavour to a home. While the three-acre pumpkin patch may be gone, guests are still invited to visit the farm. “Fall at Black Fox isn’t going anywhere,” the post added. “Our mixed flower and gladioli fields should keep blooming until the first frost.” Black Fox is located on Valley Road, about 5 kilometres southwest of the city.
