Casey Brown scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 6-4 opening night win over the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Arizona State University commit’s first multi-goal game was enough to earn him player of the game honours from the locker room. The Warriors built up a 3-1 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Brown, Pavel McKenzie and Ethan Semeniuk. That lead became 5-1 early in the second when Brown scored his second and Colt Carter added a power play marker. The Wheat Kings scored a pair of goals to close out the middle frame and added a power-play goal with just over five minutes to play to draw to within one. Noah Paquette found the back of the empty net with 31 seconds on the clock to seal Brandon’s fate. The Warriors will face the Wheat Kings Saturday night at the Temple Gardens Centre at 6 p.m.
