Here are the flooding impacts at Saskatchewan provincial parks

Some provincial parks affected by flooding over the past week have installed barricades for visitor safety.

According to SaskParks, they were installed for areas that are inaccessible thanks to the water levels.

”Please do not move or bypass them,” SaskParks said in an online update.

Duck Mountain Provincial Park

While most of Duck Mountain Provincial Park on the Saskatchewan side remains open despite flooding, two trails are still closed.

“Due to flooding in and around the park, Damselfly and Fen trails are closed until further notice. Kamsack Marina and Madge Lake Developments Marina are closed, boat launches to be used at your own risk,” SaskParks said.

Private businesses like the golf course and the park itself remain open for visitors. It is not to be confused with Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Manitoba, which has faced more severe flooding issues and road washouts over the past week. It remains closed to all traffic as of Tuesday.

Porcupine Hills Provincial Park

Boat launches at Parr Hill, Pepaw and the Saganis lakes as well as the Saganis Day Use area remain closed at Porcupine Hills Provincial Park southeast of Hudson Bay, Sask.

Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park

Park amenities at Good Spirit Provincial Park remain fully open and operating as usual. That includes the beach, the dog park, campsites and facilities – although water levels have reduced the size of the beach.

“However, there is still plenty of shoreline for visitors to enjoy,” SaskParks said.

Good Spirit Provincial Park is approximately 49 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.
