Moe says Port of Vancouver investment will aid Saskatchewan potash

An extensive infrastructure upgrade at the Port of Vancouver is being celebrated by Premier Scott Moe, who says the work will go a long way to helping get Sask. potash to markets aboard.

Moe and Canpotex President and CEO Gordon McKenzie attended a groundbreaking event at the Neptune Bulk Terminals. The project will see the replacement or refurbishment of equipment at the site.

“By moving more Saskatchewan potash to international markets, this project will create new opportunities and support good jobs and economic growth in our province as well as across Canada,” Moe said in the announcement.

“This expansion will strengthen global food security and reinforce Saskatchewan’s position as the world’s leading potash producer and a trusted, secure, reliable and ethical supplier.”

Saskatoon-based Canpotex markets and delivers potash produced by Mosaic and Nutrien to customers overseas.

According to the company, it has shipped 325 million metric tonnes of Canadian potash to 40 countries over its history.

“Today’s investment at Neptune means we will be able to reliably export Saskatchewan potash through the Port of Vancouver to farmers overseas for decades to come,” McKenzie added.

According to the province, the value of Saskatchewan’s potash exports reached $9 billion in 2025.
