Saskatchewan ministers are heading to India from Oct. 10 to 16 to advance trade relations with the country. Minister of Trade and Export Development Warren Kaeding will meet with business leaders, stakeholders and government officials to discuss food security, critical minerals, energy and sustainability, according to a news release from the province on Friday. Minister of Advanced Education Ken Cheveldayoff will also join the delegation to meet with post-secondary institutions and strengthen existing relationships. “International partnerships are essential to advancing Saskatchewan’s opportunities for researchers and post-secondary institutions,” Cheveldayoff said in the release. “This mission allows Saskatchewan to highlight our innovative strengths, helping build connections that support knowledge exchange, research excellence and long-term economic growth.” The province says the mission will promote its agricultural expertise while also expanding research and academic collaboration. “Saskatchewan has found a strong and reliable partner in India,” Kaeding said in the release. “We are looking forward to further strengthening this relationship in the days ahead. As we continue to grow our province’s economy for the benefit of the people of Saskatchewan, India remains an important partner to advance our shared food and energy security priorities.” Both Kaeding and Cheveldayoff will represent Saskatchewan as part of the federal government’s Team Canada Trade Mission programming in Mumbai on Oct. 14. In 2025, Saskatchewan exports to India totalled $827 million, with potash, lentils and peas as the top export products.
