Shake the Lake is returning to Wascana Lake this weekend, headlined by Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray. The two-day event, held in front of the Conexus Arts Centre, will kick off on Friday, with gates opening at 3 p.m. each day. Friday’s lineup will begin with School of Rock, a local youth music school, followed by Blu Beach Band, Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts, Honeymoon Suite. Friday night will end with a performance by Sugar Ray, who are best known for their 1997 chart topper “Fly” and 1999’s “Someday.” Saturday’s lineup will begin with Sons of Arthritis, Wide Mouth Mason, Headpins, and 54-40. Saturday will end with a performance by Smash Mouth, best known for their late 1990s hits like “All Star,” “Walkin’ on the Sun” and “I’m a Believer”. The band will play with new lead singer Zach Goode following the departure and death of original front man Steve Harwell. In addition to the music, attendees can take part in cornhole games, visit the Cocktail Caravan, and pick up festival gear at the merch tent. There will also be a variety of food trucks and on-site concession. Festivalgoers can either buy a weekend pass for both days, or individual tickets, which can be purchased online. Ahead of Shake the Lake, The Beaches will also be playing on the Outdoor Stage with Sofia Cameron and Devon Cole on Wednesday, with tickets for that show available here. Shake the Lake debuted in 2018. According to organizers, nearly 30 per cent of attendees travel from outside Regina. Past performers at the annual event include Default, Finger Eleven, Headstones, Glass Tiger, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and Cheap Trick. With files from Cole Davenport
