Environment Canada is warning of heavy rain across parts of Saskatchewan as a low-pressure system moves into the province. The weather agency issued a yellow level warning rainfall early Sunday morning. It says rain is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday evening. Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 millimetres are forecast, with some areas potentially receiving between 80 and 100 millimetres in thunderstorms. Environment Canada says water is likely to pool on roads and in low-lying areas, creating hazardous driving conditions. Travel delays are possible, and some local utility outages may occur. The warning covers the City of Saskatoon, the City of Prince Albert, the District of Lakeland including Emma Lake and Anglin Lake, the RM of Barrier Valley, the RM of Arborfield, the RM of Great Bend, the RM of Laird, the RM of Corman Park and the RM of Aberdeen. A severe thunderstorm watch was also issued Sunday morning for parts of central, eastern, southern and southeastern Saskatchewan. The area around Regina saw heavy rainfall throughout the morning, causing flooding at several of the city’s underpasses. The weather agency is urging residents to monitor forecasts and weather alerts as conditions develop.
