A 25-year-old man is facing several charges after a shooting in the northern village of Île-à-la-Crosse. RCMP say officers arrested Joseph Ayotte on Sept. 8 in a home in the community, located about 450 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert. The shooting was reported on Sept. 7, when police say a man was seriously injured on Ahenakew Boulevard. As a result of the investigation, the man, who hails from Île-à-la-Crosse, has been charged with aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm while knowing possession was unauthorized, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Île-à-la-Crosse on Thursday. RCMP say they continue to investigate.
