Twelve people were arrested on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation this week as part of a drug trafficking investigation. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team and Critical Incident Program executed search warrants at three homes on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation on Thursday. During the search, officers found and seized one shotgun, two carbines, two replica pistols, one sawed-off rifle, 28 grams of cocaine and cash. The same day, officers arrested 12 people. Eleven of the 12 people have since been released without charges. As a result of the investigation, officers charged a 57-year-old man from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation with nine drug trafficking and weapons related charges. He has been remanded into police custody and was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert court on Friday. RCMP say the investigation continues and more charges may be laid.
