Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to identify a second outstanding suspect who is wanted in connection with a shooting this summer in the Port Lands. The incident happened on July 12 near Polson and Cherry streets. Toronto police say they were called to that area just before 3:30 a.m. for a sound of gunshots call. Investigators say there was an “exchange of gunfire” between two males. They say after allegedly firing his gun, one of the suspects, who has since been arrested and charged, allegedly stole a vehicle with customers on board from a rideshare driver. While fleeing, he reportedly hit pedestrians and vehicles, resulting in one person being taken to the hospital. Two people were also transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, they said. Police say the male also sustained gunshot injuries and was also transported to the hospital. All of the injuries were deemed non-life threatening. Omar Abdul Singateh, 25, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with 10 offenses, including discharge firearm recklessly, robbery, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, and forcible confinement. The charges have not been tested in court. He was scheduled to appear before a judge on July 12. A gun was recovered in the stolen vehicle, police said. Toronto police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who recognizes the second outstanding suspect to contact them. They say he had a moustache and was last seen wearing a black ball cap, a black t-shirt, light-coloured pants, and black shoes. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-2510 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
