Police have identified a man who was murdered inside Toronto Community Housing building in North York over the weekend as the search continues for a suspect. The victim is 34-year-old Christopher Gordon, of Toronto. His murder is the city’s 30th homicide of the year. A photo of Gordon has not been released. The incident occurred on Sunday in the Lawrence Heights neighbourhood, on Blossomfield Drive, near Flemington Road, which is in the vicinity of Lawrence Avenue West and William R. Allen Road. Toronto Police Service said just before 8:20 a.m. they responded to a call in that area for an echo-tiered response, which is the highest priority emergency dispatch level used for life-threatening medical emergencies, one that triggers a simultaneous multi-agency response. In a news release, they said a “disturbance” was heard inside a residential apartment building. There, a man was found in a fourth-floor unit with “traumatic injuries,” Det. Sgt. Sanjeev Nair, of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit, told reporters at the scene on Sunday afternoon. Nair said investigators do not believed that the victim resided there. Life-saving measures were performed, police said, but the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Nair said several people fled from the building, including the suspect, in a northbound direction prior to police arrival. A suspect has now been identified as Cody Rudifo, 32, of Timmins. He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder. Anyone who locates Rudifo is being advised to not approach him but instead to call 911. Police say he is considered to be armed and dangerous. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
