Durham police have arrested two people in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in Pickering three years ago. Police provided the update in a news release on Wednesday. The shooting happened on June 18, 2023, at a housing complex on Kingston Road. Officers located the victim, Anthony Dixon, with life-threatening injuries. Police said the 17-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after. Investigators previously said the shots were fired from a vehicle that later fled the area. The suspects were arrested this week, police announced. One of them has been identified as 22-year-old Fawaz Sheikh from Ajax. The other suspect, who is now 19 years old from Pickering, cannot be named because he was a youth at the time of the shooting, police said. Both have been charged with second-degree murder. The arrests came more than two months after police appealed for information on the third anniversary of Dixon’s death.
