A B.C. woman is making plans to travel after learning she won a $5 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot during a trip to the grocery store. Jane D. won the classic jackpot prize in the Aug. 8 draw, the B.C. Lottery Corporation said in a news release Monday. “I didn’t know how to react. The cashier was almost more ecstatic than me!” she told the BCLC, adding that her husband was incredulous at the news when she returned to the car with her shopping. “He didn’t believe me at first, then I showed him the validation slip and he counted the zeroes.” The odds of winning the classic jackpot are one in 13,983,816, according to the BCLC. Jane D. said she’s looking forward to having “more flexibility” after the windfall and plans to treat herself to a “suite on a cruise” in addition to paying for home renovations and making investments. The winning ticket was purchased at a drug store in Chemainus on Vancouver Island.
