Victoria police are asking for the public’s help finding a 40-year-old man who left a Victoria parole facility without permission while serving a five-year sentence. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Christopher Hinton, who fled on Aug. 21. “Hinon is described as a 6′1″ Caucasian man, who’s 192 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. If you see him, do not approach him. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call 9-1-1 and reference file number 26-35391,” police said in a statement. According to the Victoria Police Department (VicPD), Hinton is serving a sentence of five years, five months and 11 days. He was first convicted in 2022 of dangerous driving and fleeing from police in a vehicle. VicPD says he was convicted of several more offences in 2023, including possessing stolen property, driving while prohibited, assaulting a peace officer, drug trafficking and possessing a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Police have not said where Hinton may be. Anyone who knows where he is or has information that could help police find him is asked to call 911.
