B.C. Conservative interim Leader Lorne Doerkson will not be holding a media scrum on election night, the party said in a statement about its plans for a watch party on Saturday. Doerkson will deliver a speech but won’t be answering rapid fire questions from representatives of multiple media outlets. The party’s statement also suggests Doerkson may only make himself available for questions if the B.C. Conservatives win the election. “Should the Conservative Party of B.C. be in a position to form government, a media availability with the Leader will be arranged for Sunday, Oct. 25. Further details will be provided,” the statement from the party said. The update comes on the heels of NDP Leader David Eby saying Doerkson is “going into hiding” during the final days of the campaign—holding pricey private fundraisers instead of opening himself up to questions from the media.
