Vancouver International Airport will be taking part in an emergency response training exercise Tuesday, which will include people in the terminal looking “distressed or injured.” The airport issued an advisory about its plans, saying the exercise is scheduled to run between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the terminal and on the airfield. “Safety is our number one priority at YVR and holding annual large-scale exercises is one way that we maintain our high emergency response standards,” the statement from the airport said. “The scenario will play out at YVR and around the Lower Mainland.” Anyone participating in the exercise will be wearing a vest, and signs will be posted around the airport informing people of the exercise. “By simulating emergency situations, we’re able to better prepare for the unlikely event of a real-life emergency at YVR,” the statement from the airport said, adding there will be no impact on operations.
