A 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and other offences, five months after a break-in and struggle in Langley’s Aldergrove neighbourhood. Christian James MacLean was arrested Wednesday in Fredricton, N.B., Langley RCMP said in a news release Thursday. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, break and enter of a dwelling house and disguising face with intent to commit an offence, police said. The charges stem from a March 13 incident in which Mounties were called about an unknown man inside a home around 2:20 a.m. “It is alleged that the victim confronted the suspect and was assaulted during a brief struggle,” the Langley RCMP release reads. “Through conventional police techniques and various investigative avenues, investigators were able to identify and locate a suspect.” MacLean appeared in court in New Brunswick and was remanded into custody “pending arrangements for his return to British Columbia,” according to police. Mounties said no further information would be shared as the matter is now before the courts. The victim’s identity is protected by a publication ban, police added.
