One year after the body of Dillen Bain was found in a burning car in Kamloops, B.C., authorities are asking for the public’s help advancing the investigation into his death. The 2019 Volkswagen Golf was discovered on fire along Tranquille-Criss Creek Road in the early morning hours of Aug. 23, 2025. Bain was reported missing the same month, under circumstances the Kamloops RCMP deemed suspicious. The case is now being investigated by the B.C. RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit, which asked any witnesses who haven’t already come forward to do so. “Investigators are seeking information to help establish the circumstances leading up to Bain’s homicide,” the RCMP said in a news release Monday. “Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the victim prior to the incident.” Authorities said before the black Volkswagen Golf was found in flames, it was seen in the North Shore area of Kamloops accompanied by a blue vehicle. The fire—which is believed to have been intentionally set—was reported on the Tranquille-Criss Creek service road around 4 a.m. Investigators asked anyone with information on the case to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477.
