Police in Abbotsford say they seized cash, drugs and a vehicle after a traffic stop this week. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the 2400 block of Crescent Way, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a social media post Saturday. Plainclothes officers were “conducting proactive enforcement” in the area when they “observed a female openly consuming drugs while seated in a vehicle,” the post reads. Police initiated a traffic stop and arrested the vehicle’s occupants for drug possession, according to the post. Officers then searched the vehicle, seizing roughly 80 grams of suspected drugs and approximately $3,000 in cash. Police shared photos of the seized items with their post. The vehicle was also seized as “part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation,” police said. “This enforcement action underscores the importance of proactive policing in identifying and disrupting criminal activity before it escalates and negatively impacts the community,” the post concludes. “By targeting drug-related offences, AbbyPD officers continue to enhance public safety, address neighbourhood concerns, and reduce the harms associated with illicit drug trafficking.”
