Local politicians and officials have a better understanding of the new Costco store opening in East Windsor near Tecumseh Road East and Catherine Street. A networking event was held by the company on Wednesday. Ward 7 councillor Angelo Marignani attended. He told AM800’s The Kyle Horner Show the store is expected to open some time in November, with the gas bar expected to open on November 1. Marignani says the new store will be bigger than the existing store on Walker Road. “It will have the tire service centre, it will have the seasonal gardening, it will have the pharmacy and optical lab, the food court, and the bakery,” says Marignani. “But one thing that it will have that the other Costco does not have and that is a hearing aid centre, which is so very important for our seniors.” He says the gas bar will also be bigger. “This one will have the multi-pump fuel facility just like the other one, but it will be double the amount of pumps,” he says. “That will be opening, from what I heard, the tentative date if everything goes clearly, the beginning of November.” Marignani says the company did not give an exact date when the new store will open. “They didn’t want to be so specific on a date just in case there is some unforeseen factor which says we have to delay,” says Marignani. “So they were able to say, ‘Listen, this will be in November; that opening will happen in November, so we do have that confirmed.” Costco is holding a job fair at the Serbian Centre on Sept. 23. More than 200 positions are available, and some applicants could receive offers on the spot. The job fair runs from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
