Windsor police have charged three drivers with stunt driving after separate incidents involving speeding, burnouts and reckless driving. Shortly before 1 p.m. on July 11, officers stopped a 42-year-old man for travelling 117 kilometres per hour in a posted 60 km/h zone in the 5200 block of Cabana Road East. In the second incident, in the early hours of July 12, officers were flagged by a member of the public who reported a stunt driving incident that had just occurred. Through their investigation, officers learned that the driver had performed a burnout at the intersection of Ouellette Avenue at Riverside Drive West. The third incident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. on July 12. Officers say they stopped a 19-year-old man after observing him drive recklessly, accelerating rapidly and causing tire screeching in the 60 block of Riverside Drive East. All three drivers had their vehicles impounded for 14 days and their licences suspended for 30 days. Additional penalties may apply after the matters go to court.
