Justice Adam Campbell sentenced Daniel Gerow, 31, to five years in prison. Warning: Contains graphic details. According to his lawyer, Gerow was convicted of 10 charges including forcible confinement, uttering threats, carrying a gun and assault. Court learned two homeless people were kidnapped and taken to a residence where they were confined and tortured for hours. According to the judge, the victims were choked, tased, burned, and branded. One was also injured when a power drill was used on their knee. The abuse was videotaped and witnessed by others. The crown asked for six years in prison while the defence sought three-and-a-half. Justice Campbell called Gerow an active enforcer saying his actions caused severe psychological harm to the victims and that there was little evidence of remorse. Ken Marley, Gerow’s lawyer, would not comment on Friday’s sentencing but says an appeal is being considered. Gerow won’t begin the five-year sentence until a separate four-year sentence for several gun-related offences has finished. Gerow is also currently slated to stand trial in connection with the murder of Dalton Bartnik.
