Fisheries officers arrest two on fishing vessel, release nearly 500 lobsters

Two people are under arrest for alleged violations under the Fisheries Act.

Patrolling officers from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) boarded a lobster vessel in St. Marys Bay, N.S., on Thursday and made the arrests.

They reportedly seized the vessel and 29 lobster traps, then freed 491 live lobsters to the ocean.

In a social media post on Friday, the DFO says the matter is under investigation and it will not make any further comments.
