A train that spreads good cheer through music and fundraising every holiday season is about to roll into our region in a little over a month. The CPKC Holiday Train, now in its 28th year, will take off on Nov. 19 to spread festive cheer across North America, including stops in our region, all while raising money for local food banks. This year’s artists for stops in Simcoe County will be American rock band American Authors and Canadian singer-songwriter Tyler Shaw. American Authors is most known for smash hits “Believer” and “Best Day of My Life.” The band formed when they met while attending Berklee College of Music in 2006. Tyler Shaw is known for several radio hits, including “Kiss Goodnight,” “By My Side,” “House of Cards,” “With You” and “Back to Me.” His career was launched into the mainstream when he won the MuchMusic Coca-Cola Covers Contest. The stops in our region will be on Nov. 30 in Springwater at 2231 Nursery Road from 12:30 p.m. to 12:55 p.m., in MacTier at CPKC Station from 3 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. and in Parry Sound from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. “Our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train through hundreds of communities across our network to support people facing food insecurity,” says CPKC President and Chief Executive Officer Keith Creel. “Through the generosity of the thousands of families and fans who come out to see the Holiday Train and support local food banks, whether for the first time or as part of a long-running holiday tradition, we can spread the joy of the season and support the giving spirit of the holidays.”
